DESCRIPTION:The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is hosting a Basketball Shoot-out at the J. Craig Smith Community Center Gymnasium on March 31 at 5:30pm. There will be two different competitions: a skills competition for boys and girls ages 8-15 and a slam dunk competition for those 16 and up. The skills competition\, a timed dribble\, pass\, shoot challenge\, will be divided into three age groups: 8-10\, 11-12\, 13-15. Only 10 participants will be allowed in each age group\, so players are encouraged to sign up quickly before the slots fill up. Prizes will be awarded to the top two in each age group. Entry fee is $10. Parents can register their children online at Sylacauga.recdesk.com under the Special Events category. \n \n\nThe slam dunk competition will immediately follow the skills competition. Players will pay a $10 cash entry fee\, and the winner will receive a cash prize (total of all slam dunk entry fees). Guest judges will determine the winners. Players will sign up and pay their entry fee at the door.\n \n\nSpectators will pay a $1.00 entry fee at the door.\n \n\nThe mission of the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Sylacauga and surrounding areas by providing quality parks\, facilities\, activities\, programs\, and events.
