SUMMARY:Movie in the Park & Costume Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Halloween-themed Movie Night in the Park sponsored by Ben Robbins on Friday\, October 21 at Central Park across from Blue Bell Creameries. It will feature the ever popular film Hocus Pocus. Cuppa Grace\, Lilly Jo's Treats\, GG's Food Truck\, and Seafood Queens will be there! The PG movie will be free to the public and will last approximately 95 minutes. Patrons should bring their own outdoor chairs for the event. Vendors will be at the park from 5-9pm\, the costume competition will last from 5:30-7:30pm\, and the movie will begin at 7:30pm at the conclusion of the costume competition. There is no cost to attend the movie showing.\n \n\nThere will be three categories for the costume competition: Children (Ages 5-11)\, Youth (Ages 12-17) and Adults (18+). First\, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each age bracket for costumes that display the most outstanding creativity\, originality\, effort\, and authenticity. Costumes of all shapes and sizes are allowed and can be homemade or store bought. We will have three special guest judges from the community. The entry fee is $10/person. Register online at sylacauga.recdesk.com.\n \n\nAll costume contest participants must register online for the contest by October 14 at sylacauga.recdesk.com. (Click on Programs on the main menu\, then in the dropdown menu\, select Costume Contest and click Register.) Sign-in begins at 5:30 p.m. on October 21 at the Central Park Pavilion. Judging begins at 6:00 p.m. starting with the Children's group (Ages 5-11)\, followed by Youth (Ages 12-17). Adult contest judging will begin immediately following the youth contest. Prizes will be awarded after each category is judged.
