Pastry Assistant

Job Description

The Pastry Assistant supports the Pastry Chef in preparing all types of baked goods for multiple outlets at Pursell Farms including the restaurants, special events and weddings and private dinners as well as other corporate and private events. The Pastry Assistant will be involved in the creation of products, assist with the management of inventory and fulfill requests. The Pastry Assistant will work closely with other members of the culinary team. They will strive to model the Pursell Farms core values in the completion of their work.



             Assist in the preparation of desserts, breads and pastries in accordance with existing menus

             Decorate wedding cakes and other special-order cakes per request          

             Plate desserts for serving

             Prepare baked goods for special dietary requirements such as gluten free, sugar free, etc.

             Insure the kitchen equipment is always in good working condition

             Always Maintain a clean and orderly workspace

             Work cooperatively with the Pastry Chef to ensure that all product is completed in a timely manner and of the highest quality and is visually pleasing

             Perform all other duties as assigned



             High school graduate or equivalent GED

             Graduate of a culinary program with specialty certificate or proof of apprenticeship preferred

             One years of experience working as a Pastry Assistant in a resort or restaurant setting preferred

Skills and Abilities: 

             Exceptional work ethic

             Attention to detail in completing menus and recipes

             Ability to manage resources wisely

             Understanding of proper cooking techniques

             Time management and organizational skills

             Excellent customer service skills
