Police Officer

The City of Sylacauga will accept applications for Police Officers until 4:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023. The position patrols designated areas, checks the security of various buildings, makes arrests, issues traffic, and non-traffic citations, completes reports, attends court, serves warrants, and attends all required training.  Must have a high school diploma or GED, holds or can obtain APOST certification, must be 21 years of age, possess a valid Alabama driver's license with a driving record suitable for insurability. A drug screen and a background check are required.  Physical and psychological requirements must be met.  Benefits include free medical/ insurance and retirement. Applications are available at City Hall Human Resource Department (on the 2nd floor) at 301 N. Broadway Avenue upon payment of a $ 1.50 application fee. City Hall is closed on holidays. EOE/MF/VD
