The Sylacauga Parks & Recreation is excited to announce the grand opening of the brand-new, fully ADA accessible playground at Noble Park, located at 101 E. 10th Street. This state-of-the-art playground is designed to provide an inclusive and engaging experience for children of all ages and abilities, offering something for everyone in the community. The grand opening event will take place on Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 AM and will include festivities such as a ribbon cutting, free Chick-fil-A biscuits for the first 30 attendees, hot cocoa and coffee from Gigi’s Java, music, and plenty of playtime on the new equipment!
The new playground features a range of innovative structures, all fully fenced in for safety, and designed to accommodate children with varying physical abilities. Made possible through the recent tax increase and a grant from Struthers Recreation, the new playground offers exciting elements that promote physical development, imagination, and social interaction.
The playground consists of three distinct play areas:
-
The Smaller Structure: Focused on younger children and providing accessible features for those with physical and intellectual limitations. It includes elements that ensure children of all abilities can play together.
-
The Larger Structure: Designed to challenge older children and promote physical skills like balance, strength, and coordination. This structure encourages kids to engage in play that enhances their proprioception and motor abilities.
-
Transferable Elements: Features such as disc swings and a merry-go-round, both of which are fully accessible, allowing all children to enjoy the thrill of swinging and spinning together.
Additionally, each structure includes panels that stimulate imagination and sensory engagement, fostering creativity and providing a well-rounded experience for children and their families.
The grand opening will celebrate the collaborative efforts of the city’s leadership, community members, and partners who made the playground possible. The event is open to everyone, and we encourage families to join us for this special occasion as we kick off a new era of accessible, inclusive play in Sylacauga.
We invite the community to come out and see the results of your city tax dollars at work, building a brighter, more inclusive future for our children!
