Position Description

Title:    Bus Driver

Reports to:    Transportation Supervisor and Principals

Job Goal:    To provide safe and reliable transportation to school students on a regular basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Keep the bus clean (inside and out) and inspect for damage and safe operation on a daily basis.

2.    Pick up students at assigned stops at a consistent time.

3.    Follow designated routes as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.

4.    Follow all railroad crossing, speed limit and other regulations.

5.    Insure safety of students entering and leaving the bus by closely observing their progress until they are either seated or on roadside or sidewalk.

6.    Maintain accurate records of students and bus operating data.

7.    Work with principals on bus discipline.

8.    Attend required bus driver schools.

9.    Drive for special events as necessary and as assigned.

10.    Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor to insure good bus operations and safety.

Qualifications:  A valid Alabama Drivers License and capabilities to pass the State Department of Education’s School Bus Drivers Test.
