Chamber Connections Sponsored by Southern States Bank
September Chamber Connections will be a special event as we reflect on the 20th Anniversary of September 11th. Our partners at Southern States Bank have chosen each year to recognize this day in history and have graciously agreed to be our host for our September Chamber Connections event on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 9:00 am. In an effort to allow everyone to practice safe social distancing, the B.B. Comer Memorial Library has graciously offered the Harry Brown Auditorium for the event.
This year, we have an opportunity to Remember 911 and the immediate combat operations in Afghanistan through the perspective of a Sylacauga native, retired Brigadier General Robert “Bob” Holmes. On 11 September 2001, he commanded the Air Force Special Operations Command’s 720th Special Tactics Group, the USAF’s elite Special Operations Force.
Join us as General Holmes remembers and shares the experience of 911 and leading the historic deployment of the 720th’s “Air Commandoes” to conduct Joint Special Operations in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
We look forward to seeing you at Chamber Connections as we reflect on this day in history.
