The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is thrilled to offer a weather radio programming event to the senior citizens of our community. ABC 33/40’s meteorologist Evan Chickvara will be at the Maxye Veazey Senior Center on Friday, August 16 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM to check and program weather radios for those who are age 55+. Seniors are asked to bring their own weather radios to be checked and/or programmed; however, thanks to the generosity of Bill Pharr with Area Real Estate, Inc., we will be able to offer 20 free weather radios to seniors who do not have a weather radio or the means to purchase one. 

The Maxye Veazey Senior Center is located at 2 West 8th Street, Sylacauga, AL. The building is attached to the side of the J. Craig Smith Community Center. Participants should enter at the porte-co with rocking chairs.
